2022 Goals Check-In: February Was Not Cute

February was not cute, but God was there.

March will have its own grace and grit, and God will be here too.

Around the first of each month, I send a goals check-in for the gals who are curious, dubious or just encouraged by seeing another woman run after what God has called her to. These emails are a bit longer, so I’m going to dive right in!

Let’s debrief monthly goals first:

  • Run 55 miles: I ran 50 miles! I am not sad about 50/55. I also ran another half marathon, which wasn’t my fastest - but was my most enjoyed. If you want to hear more about why I love running, listen to this podcast!

  • Go to the beach twice: You might remember in January I wanted to go to the beach every week and never went. So I downgraded this goal, and I made it happen! And I’m glad I did.

  • Write a social media plan for Nick: I didn’t even touch this goal. My husband, Nick, doesn’t care a thing about social media, and he probably doesn’t even want a plan. :) I just want to make him a plan because I want more people to learn from his wisdom.

  • Go + Tell Gal projections: I told y’all this failed goal from January that needed to happen. AND IT DID! I finally have my head around how our business needs to do budgeting + projections, and I’m so grateful I pressed in here.

  • Clear out the garden: I’m giving myself a 50% on this! I got the majority of the clearing done, but I’m going to keep going and get the garden ready for another try this spring. This video will show you more about my gardening woes + wins.

  • Write new food lists: Nick and I have been doing an elimination diet to work through inflammation issues. I never actually made a list of the foods we could eat, but I’ve put “debrief + make a new plan moving forward” on my March goals.

  • Finish Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership: I didn’t finish this book, but I am savoring! I’ll finish it in March!

  • Listen to ½ of Deep Work: I listened to more than half of this audiobook, and you guys, I have so many thoughts. Maybe I’ll send a No Filter Newsletter about it this month?

Weekly Action Item Debrief:

  • Have a family dinner practicing good manners: Ya’ll, we didn’t have one good family dinner where we worked on manners. Instead, our family focus has been on getting Elias through his severe post-concussive syndrome, and that’s it.

  • Weekly plan + email: I did create a weekly strategy; I never once sent the email to Nick to make sure we were on the same page about plans/schedules. This is a healthy practice for us - so I’ll bring it back in March.

  • Lift Weights: I love running so much that I neglect strength training. I get a sold 60% on this goal.

  • Social writing: I pre-wrote most of my content for the month, even if only by a day or two. This helps me be more thoughtful, honest, and have healthier boundaries with social media!

  • Sabbath: I took four sabbaths this month! Praise Him!

  • Date Night: I told you guys at the beginning of this month this is the one goal I never miss. Just because it’s fun. :)

Daily Goals Debrief:

You can see from the picture above I completely stopped tracking daily goals about halfway through the month. Taking care of Elias, our dog who had surgery, and having a few harrowing dentists visits myself were about all I could manage on top of work and life. I still drank water, turned my phone off, and read my Bible - I just didn’t track it.

I’m hopeful for March, not because I think I’ll be a better person or I’ll get more done - but because I genuinely believe that God is waiting for me in the days ahead.

And He’s waiting for you too.

Comment on this post and let me know - what are you letting go of from February and pressing into for the month ahead?

See you next week, friends!
